Self pity
Doesn’t make you feel better.
It doesn’t help you.
It doesn’t fix your problems.
It does no one a favor.
When you realize you are pitying yourself, set a timer. You get one hour to dwell, whine, and ask “why is this happening to me.” Then, you are to write a list of people; types, or singled out, that have a worse life than you. You are to do something, anything that makes you happy. Even small things like to paint your toenails a crazy color you love, listening to your favorite music, or walking yourself around a bookstore while drinking some coffee will do.
Don’t wallow.
Our lives are not meant to stay the same, ever. Putting your faith in anything staying one way, good or bad, will set you up for failure.
The only constant in life is change.
